When He’s Ruthless Book Review

Series/World: Olympus Pride #4
Couple/Pairing: Luke (Pallas cat) & Blair (Bush dog)
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐¾ (4.7/5)

The Main Characters

Blair and Luke are one of those couples that just work from the very beginning—and honestly, that’s part of what makes this story so enjoyable.

Blair is strong, capable, and already stepping into her role as a future Beta female. She’s mature, level-headed, and doesn’t waste time fighting what she knows is real. Luke, on the other hand, is protective, steady, and completely sure about one thing—Blair is his.

Their bond started early (they recognized each other as true mates when she was twelve), and while that could have felt uncomfortable, it was handled respectfully and naturally. By the time the story unfolds, their connection is solid, and there’s no unnecessary back-and-forth or denial.

And honestly? That was refreshing.

About the Author

Suzanne Wright continues to deliver exactly what readers expect—strong heroines, alpha-level heroes, sharp dialogue, and a world full of danger, loyalty, and family chaos.

Her writing shines most in character dynamics, especially within the Pallas cat family. The banter? Still top-tier. The sibling chaos? Still unmatched.

My Thoughts About the Book

This book had me hooked from the start. There are multiple storylines running at once—a stalker threat, pack tension, and ongoing family drama—and it kept things interesting throughout. I genuinely found myself second-guessing who the stalker was more than once.

Luke and Blair’s relationship flowed effortlessly on the page. No forced drama, no drawn-out misunderstandings—just two people who know they belong together and act like it. That alone made this such an easy, satisfying read.

And the side characters? Absolutely delivered.

Luke’s family is chaotic in the best way. The ongoing sibling arguments, the dark humor about their childhood (seriously… the “who tried to murder who” conversations never get old), and Vinnie stepping into a stronger role—all of it added so much life to the story.

And let’s talk about the wolverine uncles—because they stole every scene they were in. Completely unhinged in the best way.

The world continues to expand, and each book feels like it adds more depth. Look out for my review of book five, When He’s Torn.

Almost Perfect… Except

There were just a few things that didn’t quite land:

  • The dislocated joint scenes: These were clearly meant to be funny, but they came across more awkward than entertaining and didn’t really add anything to the story.
  • Blair’s pack: Their refusal to acknowledge the danger right in front of them got frustrating at times.

Still, none of these were deal-breakers—they just stood out.

Favorite Quote

“To bush dogs, the meaning of fair fight meant ‘we will blindside you, maul you, humiliate you, and leave scars on your soul.’”

This line perfectly captures the unapologetic, no-holds-barred nature of Blair’s pack. It’s brutal, a little darkly funny, and completely on-brand for the kind of world Suzanne Wright has built—where “fair” doesn’t mean equal… it means you survive if you can.

What I love most about this quote is how it reflects Blair herself. Beneath her calm, controlled exterior is someone who was raised in a pack that doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t soften, and definitely doesn’t play nice. It adds another layer to her strength—she’s not just capable, she’s dangerous in her own right.

And honestly? It also hints at why Luke never stood a chance—because once a bush dog decides you’re theirs, it’s already over.

Final Thoughts

This felt like a strong return to form after the previous book. It had everything you want from a Suzanne Wright novel—action, humor, emotional connection, and just the right amount of tension.

The chemistry between Luke and Blair felt natural, the pacing kept things moving, and the mix of danger and family chaos made it hard to put down.

🔥 Heat & Mood: Steamy, intense, playful banter, protective alpha energy, action-packed with emotional depth

If you’re already invested in the Olympus Pride world, this one is definitely worth your time.

If it’s not intense, emotional, and a little dangerous… was it even worth reading?
