War of Hearts Book Review

War of Hearts Book Review

By Nina Levine

I waited almost a year for this book to be released. First, we had a release date and then we didn’t.  Let me tell you I was looking forward to seeing more of the boys especially my book boyfriend King.  So, it’s understandable that I was pissed when the book was put on hold or re-written whatever the hell happened.  I love Nina Levine’s books and all the Storm books, so I was more disappointed than pissed, and I won’t say that I was patient at all.  When War of Hearts was finally released, I thought to myself…this better be worth it.

This is a forbidden love romance.  Fury is a Storm member and Zara is the president’s daughter and the president, King, already warned Fury not to even look at Zara and for a while, he didn’t.

Fury and Zara became friends as he helped her cope with her demons.  A traumatic event occurred, which left her broken (I won’t say what it is, you will have to read to find out).  Finally, they became a couple, but immediately after they started their relationship, Fury finds out that he is going to be a father and based on how he was raised, decided to be a family with his baby mother–so they separated and didn’t see each other for 4 years–until she returns to Sydney.

War of Hearts is not what I expected, but I trust Nina’s stories, so there was no question in my mind that this book would be great!!  Needless to say, I could not put this book down–I read it in one sitting……..a real rollercoaster ride for me and will be for you too.

Fury is everything I love in a book boyfriend.  He is pure bad-ass–pure alpha male just how Nina likes to write them. He has a good heart and is a great father to his son…but I hated him for a while because of what he did to Zara leaving her like that.  I still cannot understand why he left her, because that wasn’t the answer.  On the other hand, Zara was too young and she needed the time to heal and mature–and that is exactly what happened.   It was great to see Zara grew up and mature and be self-confident.  All their history made for an epic love story–a story of survival and love………

All hail the queen or MC Romance! Nina did an excellent job with this book.  To answer your question, it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!  War of Hearts was well written…just an amazing ride!!

It was a slow burn, which I was warned about so I expected it. I like my books with tons of steamy scenes, but this book lacks that element.  However, this did not take away from the book, because I understand what Nina was doing–both Fury and Zara needed to take their time building a relationship…but when they finally came together it was magical.  The chemistry between the Fury and Zara was amazing right from the start, even though they weren’t doing anything about it.

I feel like War of Hearts was grittier and more gruesome than the rest of the Storm books. There were more violence and Fury was right in the middle of it–he was a big player.  There was so much action in this book, and I just couldn’t get enough.  I was hoping that the book would tie up all the loose ends with what was going on with the club, but that is for another book.

Other than the loose ends and the slow burn, this book wouldn’t have been a perfect 5 stars.

This love story was EPIC!!

It was good to see King as his stubborn bad-ass self.  I love King and because of all the intense club business going on King was all over this book.  I love King as a father, he was so good with Zara, and I love the relationship that they have.  See my review of the series here=⇒Steamy Series Sundays-Sydney Storm MC
