My 2020 Reading Goals
Happy New Year, Everyone!!
I cannot believe it’s 2020 already…where did the time go? I have 1 kid in college, 1 in high school, and another in 4th grade…I blinked once, and this happened. I do know, though, that I am looking forward to this year big things happening for me this year—I claim it!!
Last year was a good reading year for me; I read 128 books, 24 more than my reading challenge on Goodreads. 128 books equal 31,967 pages, the shortest book I read was 49 pages, and the longest book I read was 459 pages. I read all different kinds of romance novels, from paranormal, contemporary, gay romance, motorcycle club romance—to name a few. Looking at my read list from last year, it appears that I read mostly gay romance books.
There were so many good gay romance books out there…who knew…The first book I read last year was Double Dare by Jeanne St. James, and the last book I read for the year was Indecent Lies by one of my author crush V. Theia. You can read my review here=⇒Indecent Lies Book Review. In addition to Jeanne St. James and V. Theia, some other authors I read were R. L. Kenderson, J.R. Ward, Gena Showalter, Kindle Alexander, Ella Frank, Joanna Wylde, and many more.
Although I met my goal last year, I was a bit disappointed in myself because some of the books that I had on my 2019 list were not read—some I started but never finished…UGH! But I promise to make it up to myself this year…new year…new goals.
My Goodreads 2020 Reading Challenge
Because I read 128 books last year, this year, I will increase my goal from last year’s 104 to 115 books…Yikes!! I know…I know…I am ambitious, but I think I can do it.
What to read…what to read…
The first books on my agenda are to finish those that I started in 2018 and 2019 (Yes, believe it, I have books unfinished from 2018…shame on me). I have a few of these, including J.R. Ward’s The Chosen (almost finished I am at 80%) from her Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. I have Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark, Sweet Ruin, and many others. Once I am finished with those books, I will start playing catch up on my series…yes, I am behind on tons of series, including J. R Ward and Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter…interestingly enough, I am all caught up on all my motorcycle club romance series.
This year, I’m staying away from any new series until I am all caught up (which should take the rest of the year) because I always get hooked on them. Then I can’t finish what I have on my agenda…this year, I am committed to reaching my goal, not so much about the number of books, but to follow my agenda so I can read those books I MUST read.
